BOSSIER CITY, La. — The Bossier Parish School Board met Thursday night to remember the eight children killed in the cedar grove mass shooting that occurred last month.
During the meeting, board members presented state House Resolution 203 to Caddo Parish Superintendent Keith Burton. The resolution offers official condolences to the families of the eight children who lost their lives on April 19, 2026.
The resolution was authored in part by former board member Dennis Bamburg. it states that the House of Representatives of the legislature of Louisiana learned of the tragic event with "immense sadness and profound regret." The document also notes that the state of Louisiana and Bossier Parish stand firmly against domestic violence.
Shamar Elkins opened fire on April 19th, killing seven of his children and one other child. The children's mothers were also injured during the shooting.
