Updated Louisiana Congressional map

SHREVEPORT, La. — As courts continue weighing challenges to Louisiana's congressional district boundaries, candidates seeking to represent the state's 4th Congressional District say uncertainty surrounding the map has upended campaign plans and left the race in political limbo.

The legal battle comes after a newly drawn congressional map significantly altered District 4, removing six parishes while adding all of Caddo and Natchitoches parishes. Candidates who had already qualified for the originally scheduled May 16 primary were refunded their qualifying fees and now must re-qualify by Aug. 7 if they wish to remain in the race. The extended qualifying period also opens the door for additional candidates to enter the contest.
