SHREVEPORT, La.  — Heavy rainfall caused flash flooding across the Shreveport-Bossier area, leaving some roads impassable and prompting rescues as water quickly rose in parts of the region.
In Bossier Parish, Benton Road was among the hardest-hit areas, with reports of water covering roadways and emergency crews responding to flood-related calls. Officials urged drivers to avoid flooded streets and warned that conditions could change rapidly as additional rainfall moved through the area.
In Shreveport, flooding was reported near the Brooks VA medical center, creating hazardous travel conditions for motorists in the area. Stoner Avenue, a roadway known for flooding problems during periods of high water, was again impacted as heavy rain overwhelmed drainage systems.
Emergency officials continued to remind residents of the dangers of driving through flooded roadways. The National Weather Service’s safety message remains: turn around, don’t drown — as floodwaters can be deeper and more dangerous than they appear.
Residents across the Ark-La-Tex were encouraged to monitor KTBS 3 weather updates, avoid unnecessary travel and seek alternate routes when encountering standing water.
