NATCHITOCHES, La. -- Natchitoches Parish sheriff's deputies are asking for the public's help in locating a Kisatchie man with connection to Benton who's been missing for several years.Â
The family of Matthew T. Smith, 43, has not heard from him since 2021, and they are concerned about his well-being. The family believes he may have left the area after learning of a potential arrest warrant, the sheriff's office said.Â
Matthew Smith may also be using the name of George Smith.Â
He's 6 feet tall, weighs 200 pounds and has medium brown to blond hair. He also may have a reddish beard. He also has distinctive tattoos: a barcode on his right wrist and a wedding band on his left ring finger.Â
Smith's last known address was in the 2300 block of state Highway 118 in Kisatchie. In addition to Benton, Smith also has connections to Warrington, Round Rock and Dallas, Texas.
Authorities have learned that he was issued a traffic citation in Giddings, Texas, in 2022, but his whereabouts since then remain unknown.
NPSO detectives and Bossier Parish sheriff's detectives have been investigating his disappearance. They went to a house where Smith was believed to have been; however, it was vacant.
The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division asls anyone with information on Smith’s whereabouts to come forward. He has been entered into the National Crime Information Center as a missing person, per his family’s request.
Call the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at (318) 357-7830 or your nearest law enforcement agency.
