Matthew Smith
Matthew T. Smith, 43, was reported missing on March 11, 2025. He was recently located in Texas and family members have been notified of his whereabouts, said Natchitoches Parish sheriff's Maj. J. Byles, who investigated the case.Â
"We are pleased that Mr. Smith has been found safe and this case has reached a positive outcome. We appreciate the assistance and concern shown by the public throughout this investigation, as well as the efforts of deputies and detectives," Sheriff Stuart Wright said.Â
"Every missing person case remains active until the individual is located or detectives have determined their whereabouts. We remain committed to thoroughly investigating each report, following up on every credible lead, and working with our law enforcement partners to ensure the safe recovery of those reported missing. We encourage the public to continue sharing information and reporting any missing person tips that may assist law enforcement in ongoing or future missing person cases," Wright added.

At one point, the search for Smith took investigators to Benton, where he had been staying. But the house was found vacant.Â
