SHREVEPORT, La. — The Krewe of Gemini officially launched its 38th Mardi Gras season Saturday night by crowning its Gemini XXXVIII royal court during the organization's annual coronation at Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana.
Â
Keith Woods and Rebecca Woods were introduced as King and Queen of Gemini XXXVIII, succeeding the reigning royal court.
Â
The celebration began at 6:30 p.m. and continued until 11 p.m., featuring dinner, live music, an awards presentation, a live auction and farewell remarks from King and Queen Gemini XXXVII, who also toasted the newly crowned royal court.
Â
Krewe Captain Patrick Gallagher said he is excited about the new royal court and the role its members will play throughout the upcoming 2026-2027 parade season.
Â
"I pretty much just kind of handpicked all of these people. That's what made it special — just people I think could stand out and represent the Krewe of Gemini for a good year," Gallagher said.
Â
This year's coronation, themed "Retro Rewind," celebrated the music, fashion and spirit of the 1970s while officially kicking off the Krewe's 38th Mardi Gras season.
Â
The Krewe of Gemini Parade rolls on Saturday, February 6, 2027.Â
