SHREVEPORT, La. — Heavy rain moved through the area Saturday morning, but it did not dampen plans for the 39th annual Let the Good Times Roll Festival in downtown Shreveport.
Â
The three-day festival, hosted by Rho Omega and Friends Inc., began Friday on Juneteenth and continued Saturday at Festival Plaza with live music, food vendors, activities and entertainment for all ages.
Â
Multiple musical acts performed throughout the day, with organizers expecting large crowds to continue into the evening as headlining performers take the stage.
Â
Festivalgoers Faith Mosley and Kerynton Roberson said the event's atmosphere and entertainment keep people coming back each year.
Â
"It makes people feel alive because everybody in Shreveport or just in Louisiana in general is outside enjoying Let the Good Times Roll," Roberson said.
Â
Members of Rho Omega and Friends Inc. said the festival's success depends on strong community support and volunteer efforts.
Â
"It's spectacular. It's what we expect, though, out of our brothers," said Reginald Abrams, a member of the Rho Omega chapter. "We expect them all to show up, we expect them all to help and work and support us."
Â
Abrams said members of other fraternities and sororities also play an important role in making the festival possible.
Â
"Yes, we're the ones putting it on, but we also use the rest of the Divine Nine and they also help us out," he said.
Â
General admission is $25. The festival concludes Sunday night at midnight.
