MINDEN, La. — Minden Police Officer Hunter Allen Buchanan, 27, has been arrested on multiple felony sex crime charges involving a juvenile following a Louisiana State Police investigation.
Records show Louisiana State Police initiated an investigation after the Shreveport Police Department located a missing 15-year-old and investigators discovered text communications with Buchanan.
Early Saturday, Louisiana State Police arrested Buchanan at Bally’s Casino in Shreveport after obtaining arrest and search warrants through Webster Parish, according to the booking report.
Buchanan, of the 200 block of Chris Drive in Minden, was booked on two counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile, one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile and one count of computer-aided solicitation for sexual purposes. Authorities say some of the infractions are alleged to have been committed in Webster Parish. He is being held on a $425,000 bond.
According to the booking report, Buchanan admitted to communicating with a girl on a dating app and bringing her to his residence on two occasions. The report also states Buchanan said her DNA would be found at his home.
Buchanan was initially booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center but was later transferred to Bossier Maximum Security Facility, according to officials.
Minden Police Chief Jared McIver said he learned of the allegations during the late evening hours of Friday and immediately requested assistance from the Louisiana State Police. Officers from both agencies worked throughout the night as the investigation unfolded.
McIver said Buchanan was immediately placed on administrative leave following his arrest.
“The Louisiana State Police will continue the ongoing investigation with the full cooperation of the Minden Police Department,” McIver said in a statement. “Minden police officers are held to the highest of standards, and anything less will not be tolerated.”
Authorities have not released additional details about the allegations or the circumstances surrounding the investigation. Louisiana State Police continues to investigate the case.
