BOSSIER CITY, La. — Becky Gray, a retired educator with nearly 50 years of experience in public education, was sworn in Thursday night as the interim District 8 representative for the Bossier Parish School Board.
The District 8 seat was declared vacant in June following the death of longtime board member Kenneth Wiggins. Gray was selected by the board following interviews with four applicants during a June 18 meeting.
Gray’s career with Bossier Schools began in 1976 as a teacher at Parkway High School. She later served as the district’s curriculum coordinator for ELA and social studies before returning to Parkway High School as assistant principal. She retired from that position in 2024.
Gray is eligible to run for the full four-year term for the District 8 seat this fall. The qualifying period for the upcoming term is scheduled for Aug. 5-7. The primary election will be held Nov. 3, followed by a general election on Dec. 12.
