SHREVEPORT, La. — Sci-Port Discovery Center officially received its award letter from the Louisiana Senate confirming a $400,000 state appropriation. The funding is allocated through House Bill 312/ ACT 961 for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
The investment will support the expansion of educational programming at Sci-Port. It will also fund improvements throughout the center, including the revitalization of an exhibit gallery and the addition of new interactive exhibits.
Sci-Port officials credited Senator Sam L. Jenkins, Jr., Representative Steven Jackson, and the Northwest Louisiana Delegation for securing the funding.
"Sci-Port is helping inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and innovators, and I’m proud to support that mission," Jenkins said.
Jackson noted that the center serves as a vital regional learning asset in downtown Shreveport. He said the investment will help give more children and families the chance to learn and explore.
The funding allows the center to continue creating meaningful moments of discovery for children, families, and educators, Sci-Port Discovery Center Executive Director Dianne Clark said.
Sci-Port is a 92,000-square-foot science and entertainment facility in Shreveport. The center offers more than 200 hands-on exhibits, interactive programs, the Goodman IMAX Dome Theatre, and the Space Dome Planetarium.
Officials will announce additional details about the projects as planning moves forward.
