TEXARKANA, Texas — City officials issued a boil water notice Wednesday for specific residents following low water pressure and service outages in the public water system.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required Texarkana Water Utilities to issue the notice. The affected area includes customers living south of West 15th Street and west of South State Line.
Children, seniors and individuals with weakened immune systems face higher risks from potential harmful bacteria. Customers should bring water to a vigorous rolling boil for two minutes and allow it to cool before drinking, cooking, brushing teeth or washing. Bottled water may be used as an alternative source.
Water system officials will notify residents using a similar public announcement once testing confirms the water is safe to drink. Residents with questions can contact Corey Atkinson or Chris Cagle at Texarkana Water Utilities at 903-798-3850, 903-277-0805 or 903-417-4336.Â
