Fawn season prompts advice

Fawn season prompts advice.

KINGSTON, La. -- As fawn season gets underway in early summer, wildlife officials are reminding residents that finding a young deer alone does not necessarily mean it has been abandoned.

People who live near wooded areas or deer habitats may spot fawns in unexpected places, including carports, garages, under decks or in other areas close to homes. While the sight of a seemingly unattended baby deer may raise concerns, experts say this behavior is a normal part of a doe's parenting strategy.
