Young entrepreneurs to open lemonade stands across Shreveport-Bossier on Saturday

Lemonade Day Shreveport-Bossier presented by Louisiana Economic Development, is a free program open to all children in grades K–12. Now in its 11th year in the Shreveport-Bossier City area and operated locally by Cohab, the program guides participating youth through a series of interactive lessons on the My Lemonade Day app. Kids learn real-world skills including budgeting, goal-setting, marketing, and customer service — then put those lessons into action by setting up their own stands in locations of their choosing throughout the community.

Lemonade Day is a national program active in communities across the United States and Canada. Since its founding, more than one million young people have participated. Each child who participates follows a simple three-part formula: spend some, save some, share some — learning not only how to earn money, but how to manage it responsibly and give back to their community.

The stakes go beyond a single day of selling lemonade. After Lemonade Day, all participants can submit their business results at local.lemonadeday.org/shreveport-bossier-city/business-results. A panel of local business experts will review every submission to select the Northwest Louisiana Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

The winner will receive a $500 prize presented by The Shreveport Chamber of Commerce and will go on to represent the region in the National Young Entrepreneur of the Year contest. Full contest details and judging criteria are available at lemonadeday.org/contests.

Community members are encouraged to visit the stand map, plan a route, and buy lemonade from as many young entrepreneurs as possible on Saturday, May 30. Families who have not yet registered their children can still sign up for free at lemonadeday.org/shreveport-bossier-city.
