Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks said Stage 1 fire restrictions are in place on land it manages in Lake County.
Those places include state parks, fishing access sites, wildlife management areas and other areas.
A news release Monday said the action followed restrictions put in place by Lake County and the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes.
“Under Stage 1 fire restrictions, campfires are generally prohibited unless an exemption is in place,” the news release said.
The news release outlined the following details:
FWP sites in Lake County are exempt because campfires are only allowed in steel fire grates provided at those locations.
Outside of those fire rings, campfires are not allowed at those sites.
Smoking is limited to enclosed vehicles or buildings, developed recreation sites, or areas at least 3 feet in diameter that are cleared of all flammable materials.
Cooking is permitted on liquid petroleum gas or propane stoves that can be turned off.
FWP has already implemented Stage 1 restrictions in Big Horn, Phillips, Wheatland, Roosevelt and Richland counties.
Additional updates on closures and restrictions can be found here. The agency said more information about wildfire prevention is available here.
It said restrictions will be in place at FWP sites until further notice.
