MISSOULA, Mont. — With temperatures soaring into the nineties and hundreds across Montana, people are flocking to spots to cool off.
One of those busy spots is Splash Montana in Missoula.
Aquatics program manager Hannah Shepherd shared safety advice for families heading to the pool.
"Swim with your kiddos. Be in the water with them. That's the best way to keep everybody safe in the water. The other is to wear your sunscreen. Drink lots of water. Always bring an empty water bottle and fill it up. And also take your kiddos to the bathroom a lot and give them breaks in the shade from the pool, even though they're pretty cool and cool itself. Still give them some breaks in the shade," said Hannah Shepherd.
Shepherd also explained that people should listen to lifeguards because they’re enforcing rules meant to keep everyone safe.
She also said families with kids who struggle in the pool could consider signing them up for swim lessons.
