MISSOULA, Mont. — Missoula City Council during its July 13 meeting is set to consider a $2,254,381.01 contract for a new park on North Scott Street and nearby street upgrades.
According to the city council's agenda report, the 5.4-acre neighborhood park on North Scott Street was already approved as a capital improvement project.
The park will replace White Pine Park and serve the growing Northside neighborhood, the city said in its project overview.Â
The city said electronic bids opened on June 26, 2026, and five bids came in. JAG Contracting LLC turned in the lowest bid at $2,254,381.01, which was less than the engineer’s $3,600,000 estimate.Â
Plans for the park include a playground, a multi-use field, a fenced dog-off-leash area, a shade pavilion, a sports court, a path system, trees and a bathroom.
If the contract is approved, street work would cover Scott, Otis, Rogers and Shakespeare streets. Crews would add a shared-use trail on the west side of Scott Street, connecting a current gap between the Ravara development and the Villagio development, along with sidewalks, trees and crosswalks at several intersections.
The city said park construction would be paid for with a $900,000 Land and Water Conservation Fund grant and debt service tied to a tax-exempt bond approved in May 2026. Right-of-way work would be funded with gas tax money and transportation impact fees.
