Missoula, Mont. — A sold-out crowd filled Washington-Grizzly Stadium as fans gathered to watch Post Malone and Jelly Roll.
All 25,000 seats at the University of Montana stadium were sold, drawing fans from across the area to one of the final stops on Malone’s stadium tour. The show also came just days after his performance at the World Cup’s closing ceremony.
One fan in the crowd, Piper, said she had been waiting for this show.
“Looking forward to the music. Post Malone’s my favorite. I mean, I'm here for both, but,” Piper said with a shrug.
She also shared the song she most wanted to hear.
“I would have to say sunflower,” Piper said.
Chad Bauer, CEO and president of the Missoula Area Chamber of Commerce, said the concert gave Missoula businesses a lift.
“Folks are filling up the motels, restaurants, people are going to go out before the concerts. Maybe go have a couple of cocktails and then after the concert's over with, who knows where they're going after that? It's definitely a beneficial boost for the whole Missoula economy,” Bauer said.
Bauer said he also had tickets and planned to attend for the same reasons many local fans did.
“For me, you know, it's in my backyard. I'm not having to pay thousands of dollars to go fly to see these big-name artists in other locations when they're not in Montana,” Bauer said.
The next concert at Washington-Grizzly Stadium is Luke Bryan and Jason Aldeen on Saturday, August first.
