A Butte man pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to firing a shot at a home in Missoula with two residents inside in 2024.
Jason Wright appeared via Zoom from Butte before Judge John Larson in Missoula County District Court to enter a change of plea to two charges of criminal endangerment.Â
According to charging documents, on March 9, 2024, deputies with the Missoula County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of gunfire in a residential area. When law enforcement arrived, they found Wright sitting in the open door of a white camper next to the house where the gunfire had reportedly happened, holding a handgun.
Deputies got several further reports regarding Wright. One man said that Wright had come to his door and asked if he had any ATVs, and when the man replied that he did, Wright pulled out a gun and threatened him before leaving. Then the couple inhabiting the house next to the camper reported that they were watching TV when they heard a bullet hit their home. Deputies investigated and determined that the bullet likely would have hit one of them if it hadn't been stopped by the wall.Â
Wright's sentencing is set for Sept. 16 at 10 a.m.
