A bit of exercise with a liberal dose of yesteryear are back by popular demand this summer with "Hike Through History," which begins Thursday.

Sponsored by the Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives, the hikes, from beginner to moderate, all start at 9 a.m. on Thursdays and will continue through Sept. 3.

Richest Hill in the World circa 1910

'Hike through History' begins the 2026 summer season on Thursday, July 16. The hike, titled 'Butte: The City that Built a Nation,' will lead to some sites of its most pivotal historic events. This circa 1910 photograph was aptly named 'Richest Hill in the World.'
