The Sand Creek fire, once barreling fiercely across the timbered landscape southeast of Wisdom, slowed as the weather cooled and delivered a measure of rain, and firefighters continued strategic efforts toward containment.

Updates from the Northern Rockies Complex Incident Management Team 3 suggested the Sand Creek fire’s estimated size remained at 31,652 acres Monday, the same size it was reported to be Saturday.
