Recently released reporting by the federal government indicates that homelessness recorded on a single night in Montana increased by 12.7% from 2024 to 2025. However, additional data seems to show a decline in the count.

The 2025 assessment, released at the end of May, showed Montana ranking fourth in the nation for the largest increase in homelessness, with an increase of 96.8% since 2007. Data was first recorded nationally in 2007, making the report useful in indicating broader trends.
