Proposed Changes To Head Start Program Could Impact Early Childhood Education In MT

Public comment on the proposal will remain open until October 6. A final decision on the proposal is expected shortly after that.

BOZEMAN, Mont. — Proposed changes to the federally funded Head Start program has families and childcare advocates in Montana weighing what the program could look like next.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced the proposed rules on August 6, and officials say the changes would help Head Start return to its roots. Critics argued the proposals go too far and could leave some families out.
