WEST YELLOWSTONE, Mont. — The Montana Department of Transportation announced a road project on U.S. Highway 191 near West Yellowstone that is expected to bring lane closures, parking limits and traffic flaggers starting in mid-July.
The work stretches from the intersection of Yellowstone Avenue and US 191 and runs about 9.6 miles north toward Big Sky. According to MDT, the goal is to improve the road surface and add safety features.
Planned work includes chip seal, new road signs with flashers and updated striping. MDT said the project is expected to take about one month, depending on weather and other unexpected issues.
During construction, drivers could see temporary parking restrictions and lane closures while flaggers guide traffic.
