The Madison County Sheriff’s Office issued evacuation warnings about the fire at 9:41 p.m. on Monday night and mentioned the fire in a post later that hour. Evacuations applied to residents in the Dry Creek Trail, Deerfoot Trail, Bobcat Trail and Pine Cone areas of the Shining Mountains.
At 2:40 a.m., the Madison County Rural Fire Department reported that the wildfire near Ennis had been “successfully contained.”
It said the nearby residences had been evacuated as a precaution and that firefighters had worked through the evening to contain the fire, protect nearby property and extinguish hot spots.
No one was injured and the fire was contained after burning around twelve-and-a-half acres, the Madison Valley Rural Fire Department wrote.
