A 27-year-old Hastings resident was sentenced Aug. 12 in Adams County District Court to two years in prison for strangulation and criminal mischief on March 7.
Jay T. Bridges, whose last known address was 319 N. Kansas Ave., pleaded no contest May 11. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dropped a second charge of strangulation and a charge of second-degree domestic assault.
According to the arrest affidavit, Bridges caused damage to a wall of one woman’s apartment and strangled another woman while intoxicated on March 7 in the 800 block of West C Street.
District Judge Timothy Hoeft sentenced Bridges and gave credit for 129 days already served.
Strangulation is a Class 3A felony punishable by up to three years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Criminal mischief, value less than $500, is a Class 3 misdemeanor punishable by up to three months in jail and a $500 fine.
