The Brenham Cubettes took one win and two losses on Thursday in their first day of matches at the Westwood Showcase Tournament.
Brenham defeated Texas Lions Academy in two sets (25-20, 25-13) to begin Thursday’s slate, but took two-set losses against Glenn (16-25, 17,25) and Northwest (17-25, 13-25) to finish the day.
Brenham (1-2) competed in its first matches of the season on Thursday.
This story will be updated with stats from Thursday’s matches.
The Cubettes will continue tournament play on Friday with three more pool matches. Brenham will begin its day at 9 a.m. at Cedar Ridge High School against Kingwood Park. The Cubettes also will face McNeil and Copperas Cove, which was moved to Brenham’s pool to avoid a district matchup against Lake Belton.
A top-two pool finish on Friday will see Brenham compete in the bronze bracket on Saturday. A bottom-two finish, though, will push the Cubettes into the copper bracket.
