DALLAS — Published reports say James Talarico has scheduled three televised debates, though opponent Ken Paxton has not confirmed those specific dates. Reports indicate Paxton agreed to debate but has not finalized the timing.
According to campaign statements, Talarico reached agreements with three media groups to host and broadcast the debates statewide.
WFAA-TV in Dallas reports the Paxton campaign claims to be close to terms with one media outlet, with an announcement expected shortly.
An advisor for Paxton told news outlets that voters deserve a fair side-by-side comparison. The advisor stated a debate will take place to address key policy differences.
According to published reports, Talarico proposed a Sept. 22 debate in the Rio Grande Valley hosted by NBC, Telemundo, and Hearst. Additional debates are scheduled for Oct. 6 in Dallas with WFAA and TEGNA, and Oct. 13 in Austin with KXAN and Nexstar.
