FLORESVILLE — Goliad opened the Floresville Jaguar Classic with three straight-set victories Thursday, Aug. 20, improving to 10-3 overall.
The Tigerettes defeated San Antonio Stevens 25-16, 25-12, Edinburg Vela 25-9, 25-16 and Orange Grove 25-15, 25-11.
Addison Yendrey led the Tigerettes with seven kills against Stevens, while Sophi Wallek added five and Ella Ulbricht finished with three.
Isabel Sanchez recorded 13 assists and six digs. Ulbricht had two aces, while Sierra Arriazola, Kensley Buenger, Kinlee Weiser and Yendrey each added one.
Weiser, Sanchez, Yendrey and Wallek each recorded a block.
Goliad rolled past Vela behind a strong all-around performance from Sanchez.
Sanchez recorded eight kills, 19 assists, six aces and eight digs. Yendrey also finished with eight kills, while Wallek had four, Weiser and Ulbricht added three each and Maely Brandes had one.
Wallek led Goliad at the net with three blocks. Ulbricht and Yendrey each added one.
Arriazola finished with seven digs, Buenger and Yendrey had four apiece and Weiser added three.
Goliad completed its unbeaten day by sweeping Orange Grove.
Wallek and Sanchez led the attack with six kills each. Weiser added five, Yendrey had four and Ulbricht finished with three.
Sanchez again directed the offense with 19 assists and also served two aces. Weiser had two aces, and Arriazola added one.
Arriazola led the defense with 12 digs. Weiser added six and Yendrey had five.
Yendrey and Wallek each recorded two blocks, while Ulbricht and Brandes added one apiece.
The Tigerettes did not drop a set in their three opening-day matches, outscoring their opponents 150-79 across six sets.
