A judge on Wednesday found Kalshi is likely violating Washington state gambling laws and ordered the company to drastically scale back operations in the state, including the wagers it now offers on sports and elections.

By Sept. 2, Kalshi must implement geofencing technology to prevent anyone located in Washington from making certain wagers on its online platform, King County Superior Court Judge John McHale ordered. A preliminary version of the geofence must be set up by Aug. 19 under the order.
