After Winnie’s passing, the organization was created to help other rescue dogs receive the care they need to find loving homes.“What we do is raise funds for area rescue organizations when they take in a dog that has some special needs,” Case said. “We can provide them with a grant award that helps them offset some of their veterinary costs up front so that that dog can have its best chance at its forever home.”The sixth annual Winnie's Way 5K Rescue Run will be held Aug. 29 at the Arthur Ray Teague Parkway boat launch in Bossier City. Participants can run, walk, or even register as a “lazy dog sleeping supporter” to support the cause from home. The event will also feature adoptable dogs from local rescue groups, vendors, food trucks, and family-friendly activities.
