SHREVEPORT, La. - The Caddo Parish Rural Development Committee addressed the impact of new data centers on local infrastructure, highlighting a financial boost for water system repairs.
One official noted that these centers are currently helping to fund the repair of leaky pipes in Blanchard and Bossier City. According to officials, the partnership represents a significant financial gain for the area.
Committee members claimed that fixing existing leaks could ultimately save more water than the data centers actually consume.
However, the developments have faced pushback from some community members. A Mooringsport resident expressed concern to commissioners regarding water lines crossing his property without his permission.
In response to those concerns, officials stated that developers do not have the power to simply take land. They noted that developers will be required to compensate landowners for any necessary access to their property.
