John Deere Tractor

WASHINGTON — Farmers across the country scored a major win as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) secured a settlement requiring John Deere to give farmers and independent repair providers access to the same tools and software currently available only to authorized dealers.

The FTC said in a release that the deal resolved an antitrust lawsuit filed with Illinois, Arizona, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The case alleged Deere unfairly limited who could fix its farm equipment, which led to delays and higher repair costs for farmers.
