Missoula County shared tips for fireworks safety for Independence Day celebrations. Fireworks are not allowed in city limits. Missoula County officials asked for residents to report illegal fireworks to help first responders.
MISSOULA, Mont. – Officials in Missoula County asked that residents enjoy fireworks safely on July 4.
Residents can view fireworks at public events, as well as on private lands outside of city limits.
Fireworks are prohibited within city limits, in county parks, open lands and on federal and state land.
Officials asked residents to take care not to disturb neighbors, pets or livestock.
Fireworks can also pose a risk for wildfires.
Residents can light fireworks in clear, open areas away from flammable debris like grass or wood.
Fireworks should be lit on a flat surface to prevent tipping over.
A bucket of water or a fire extinguisher should be nearby.
Fireworks should be soaked in water before they are thrown away.
“To help alleviate emergency responders, call 406-258-4850 to report illegal fireworks instead of calling 9-1-1. This hotline is open from Sunday, June 28 through Sunday, July 5,” officials posted onthe Missoula County Facebook page.
