Citing low wages compared to the cost of living in Missoula, a group of over 680 healthcare workers at Providence St. Patrick Hospital voted this week to join a labor union, SEIU Healthcare 1199NW.

The employees include surgical, radiology, emergency medicine and pharmacy technicians, as well as environmental services staff (cleaners), dining staff and certified nursing assistants, among others.
