Fifty years after voters consolidated Butte-Silver Bow into a city-county government, residents will decide whether to update the charter on their general election ballots.

In a final report adopted in July, the Butte-Silver Bow Local Government Study Commission recommended shrinking the council of commissioners and doing away with the chief executive position in favor of a city-county manager, among other things.
