Wildfire smoke from local and neighboring fires remains a major factor in Montana's weather forecast this evening. The 8-14-day outlooks suggest warmer and wetter than average weather on the way for the middle of August
Wildfire smoke from local and neighboring fires remains a major factor in our weather forecast this evening. Air quality was "unhealthy" this morning in the Kalispell, Great Falls, Lewistown, and Billings. Most other major areas remained in the 'moderate' zone. Air Quality Advisories are in place for Kalispell, Whitefish, Polson, Missoula, Hamilton, Dillon, and Butte through tomorrow morning.Â
Air Quality Advisories for counties west of the divide are in place due to wildfire smoke causing particulate levels to rise. Outdoor exertion is discouraged, especially for people with heart and lung conditions, children, pregnant, and elderly people. Red Flag Warnings remain in place for Carter and Fallon Counties in southeastern Montana until 9 pm tonight.Â
A Lake Wind Advisory for Fort Peck Lake is expected to expire at 9 pm tonight, with gust potential to 35 mph. Radar picks up on little to no rain moving into Montana this week.
A pattern of dry, warm, sunny weather remains. Lows tonight are forecast to dip to the 40s in most major areas, aside from Billings where things could stay milder in the low 50s. Highs Tuesday remain cooler than normal for this part of August, peaking to 70s instead of 80s and 90s.Â
Over the coming 7 days, we expect another heat wave to build into Montana. Highs to the 90s are forecast for most of the state into Saturday and Sunday. Our 8-14-day outlooks suggest warmer and wetter than average weather on the way for the middle of August.Â
