PAULS VALLEY, Okla. (KTEN) - The Pauls Valley Panthers enter year two under Mason Anthony and are ready to turn some heads in 2026 after a 3-7 record in '25.
“This is year 17 for me, and this is probably some of the most fun I’ve had in the first couple of weeks of fall camp. And so, Kids are excited; we’ve got a young group. You know, they’re hungry; they want to get back to the playoffs.”
So after last year’s woes, what does year two look like in the Mason Anthony era?
“Think it’s really laid the foundation for everybody coming out here. The APEX standard is really starting to hit these younger guys and they are keeping it level for everybody.”
“This year, you know, we can kind of build. As you said, it’s feeling things out. Kids are getting to know me, and now that they see there is a year two, there’s some continuity to it. They know how my expectations are, and we can just really elevate that this year. It’s trying to capture those moments, you know, the three wins last year”
The Panthers gave up an average 31 points per game last season, something Pauls Valley is betting on to be a big change in 2026.
“We’ve got a good defense, we’ve had a good defense, and it’s just going to keep getting better. Offense is rising too tho, so you never know, but defnese definitely.”
“We like to hit heads. We are just really strong and we just rely on each other”
“I think that is something that we are going to hang our hat on this year. You know, no matter how the game is going, no matter what the score is, we are going to fight for four quarters. We are going to be physical. We want to play it down to the wire as much as possible.”
Pauls Valley enters a new district loaded with Texoma foes, including back-to-back district champs Sulphur. But that’s not scaring the Panthers.
