Dave Inc.’s DAVE latest average revenue per user (ARPU) story is increasingly about deciding who can safely borrow more at better economics. In second-quarter 2026, annualized revenue per monthly transacting member rose 11% year over year and 5% sequentially. CashAI optimization, stronger ExtraCash engagement and subscription revenues contributed, while total revenues climbed 30% to $170.8 million.
CashAI V6 is the next step. Dave says the model uses more than 700 features, including nearly 400 new ones, and aims to increase gross profit dollars while keeping losses within a controlled range. By the August earnings call, V6 had been rolled out to about one-third of Dave’s user base, with management describing early testing as positive.
The credit backdrop is supportive. ExtraCash originations reached $2.3 billion in the second quarter, up 27% year over year, while average origination size increased 4%. The 28-day past-due rate improved 14 basis points year over year to 2.12%. According to Dave, CashAI is trained on roughly 215 million originations in total.
Pricing changes could add to V6’s ARPU impact. By late August, Dave expects nearly all members to have either no fee cap or a $20 cap. Management also plans to lift ExtraCash limits above $500. According to the company, higher-limit users are generally more tenured and have very low loss rates.
Scale makes the rollout more important. Dave added 951,000 new members in the second quarter at a $19 customer acquisition cost (CAC), lifting monthly transacting members 17% to 3.08 million. As V6 reaches more users, management expects higher average origination sizes while keeping loss rates around current levels. New-member ARPU also more than doubles, on average, by month four, adding another monetization lever as cohorts mature.
How Are AI and Engagement Driving Monetization for Peers?
SoFi TechnologiesSOFI offers a useful comparison as Dave focuses on underwriting and customer monetization. In second-quarter 2026, SoFi Technologies reported record loan originations of $14.8 billion, up 69% year over year, led by $10.7 billion of personal loans. SoFi Technologies also grew adjusted net revenues by 40% to $1.2 billion. SoFi Technologies shows how broader engagement can lift customer economics further.
UpstartUPST provides a closer AI-underwriting comparison with Dave. In second-quarter 2026, Upstart originated $4.2 billion of loans, up 50% year over year, while total revenues rose 42% to $365 million. Upstart also generated $348 million in fee revenues, highlighting how AI-driven lending growth can support stronger monetization.
