Qualcomm Incorporated QCOM is moving deeper into automotive, Internet of Things and data center computing as its handset business weakens. That creates a clearer diversification story, but it also raises the bar for execution.

The investment question is whether faster non-handset growth can offset Apple exposure, softer mobile economics and near-term margin pressure quickly enough to support a stronger buy case.
