SHREVEPORT, La. — Independence Day festivities continued Sunday at the American Rose Center as families gathered for the Red,White & Blooms event, celebrating the nation's 250th anniversary while highlighting the rose as America's national floral emblem.

SHREVEPORT, La. — Shreveport residents are invited to celebrate Independence Day, the city’s America 250 festivities, and the 100th anniversary of Cross Lake during a special fireworks watch party at Ford Park.SPAR Marketing and Communications Manager Lyman McKellar says the celebration will feature a free screening of "National Treasure" on Friday evening, followed by a fireworks display over Cross Lake beginning around 9:30 p.m.“We want people to come out and utilize the park, but we also want them to come out and watch the movie,” McKellar said.Gates open at 6 p.m. for the family-friendly event, with the movie beginning at 7 p.m. Attendees can watch from the park or enjoy the film from their vehicles using a special FM radio broadcast before capping off the evening with fireworks over the lake.
