HELENA, Mont. - Governor Greg Gianforte issued a disaster declaration on Wednesday for severe flash flooding over the Fourth of July weekend. The governor's proclamation said public infrastructure was damaged and local businesses and residents were impacted as well.Â
In spite of weekend winds, crews have successfully contained the Elder fire by 44% through aggressively patrolling and mopping up residual heat.Â
Firefighters working to contain the Elder fire are preparing for changing conditions over the weekend as a cold front is expected to bring in winds reaching up to 40 MPH. Â

BATON ROUGE, La. - Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple is advising residents to prepare for heavy rainfall and potential localized flooding later this week as meteorologists track a tropical disturbance in the eastern Gulf.
SHREVEPORT, La.  — Heavy rainfall caused flash flooding across the Shreveport-Bossier area, leaving some roads impassable and prompting rescues as water quickly rose in parts of the region.

Today, Montana saw highs return to the 80s and 90s state-wide. Billings saw some of the hottest conditions today to the mid-90s.
