SHREVEPORT, La. — Ochsner LSU Health is marking a major milestone this year, celebrating 150 years of service to the ArkLaTex. Originally established as Shreveport Charity Hospital in 1876, the institution has evolved into a cornerstone of regional healthcare.

During a recent presentation, historian Dr. Charles Vincent noted that Reconstruction-era leaders were instrumental in founding the hospital. Their commitment created a medical foundation that has supported generations of North Louisiana residents. Officials say the anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect on the hospital’s enduring impact as they continue efforts to preserve the history of one of Shreveport’s most influential institutions.
