KARNES CITY — Woodsboro’s varsity girls finished 10th in the team standings, while Thomas Ondrej led the Eagles in the varsity boys race Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Karnes City Cross Country Invitational.
The Lady Eagles scored 260 points in the two-mile varsity girls race.
Lariyah Lopez led Woodsboro with a 52nd-place finish, completing the course in 16 minutes, 33.914 seconds.
Sophia Cantu followed in 57th place with a time of 16:54.976, while Kate Delong placed 61st in 17:34.446.
Makayla Kovar finished 63rd in 17:44.218, and Emilie Norris completed Woodsboro’s scoring five with a 75th-place finish in 19:07.055.
Victoria St. Joseph won the varsity girls team championship with 37 points. Goliad placed second with 55, followed by Lockhart with 83, Three Rivers with 88 and Vanderbilt Industrial with 137.
Goliad’s Cassidy Meyer won the individual championship in 12:39.665.
Ondrej leads Eagles
Ondrej was Woodsboro’s top finisher in the varsity boys 5,000-meter race, placing 41st with a time of 21:36.385.
Aryion Montoya finished 65th in 26:29.384, while Blake Kovar placed 67th in 27:18.085.
Woodsboro did not have enough runners to record a varsity boys team score.
Lockhart won the boys team championship with 21 points, followed by St. Joseph with 85 and Orange Grove with 91.
Lockhart’s Ethan Herrera captured the individual boys title in 16:49.604.
