MARSHALL, Texas - As we approach the 250th anniversary of America, KTBS 3/KPXJ CW 21 continues to celebrate this history of our nation.

In 1839, the Republic of Texas created Harrison County on the state's eastern border. The area grew quickly, and before the Civil War, it became one of the biggest and wealthiest counties in Texas. Its early success helped shape the history of East Texas.
