Voters in Butte-Silver Bow County could very well get a chance next year to reduce the number people who serve on the Council of Commissioners.

Nearly two-thirds of respondents in a public survey think 12 commissioners is too many and Monday night, the Butte-Silver Bow Local Government Study Commission took a big step toward putting the issue on the November 2026 ballot here.
